I am very happy to join the Royal Palm Charter School this year.
I have been in education for many years working in all grades from Kindergarten as a teacher
of English as a Second Language in Puerto Rico to Junior College instructor. I taught ESOL to students
in Grades K-6. Before that I taught a summer school Headstart Pre-School program.
I taught severely handicapped students for about three years and then learning disabled
students for about 13 years. I taught a Freshman English Course at the Puerto Rico Junior
College for a year. I have spent the last few years as a substitute teacher working for the
most part at Port Malabar Elementary School. I have been a teacher aide (paraprofessional),
Assistant Principal, Principal and District Supervisor as Director of non-English speaking Student Placement.
I served as a teacher Mentor and an administrator Mentor in my former District in Rochester, New York.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from the University of Puerto Rico
whose main campus has an entry walkway that is about a mile long bordered on either side by old,
tall, tall Royal Palms. I completed my Masters Degree in Education at Nazareth College in Rochester,
New York and my Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration from New York State College at
Brockport, New York.
I live next door to my dad who is totally blind but independent.
I have a brother who lives here in NW Palm Bay who is retired but volunteers at Holmes Regional Hospital.
I have a younger brother who is a theater actor in Germany who I hope to visit during the Winter Break.
In my spare time, I like to take photographs mostly of nature but also of people.
I have never tired
of teaching and still look forward to working every day. Each day is a learning experience for children
and for those of us who learn what they teach us!'
